Why Are Our Eggs So Many Different Colors?

One of the most exciting things about our hens is the beautiful variety of egg colors they produce! You may notice shades ranging from light brown and deep chocolate brown to olive green and even bright blue.

Egg color is determined by the breed of the hen. Just like hens have different feather colors and patterns, they also have different genetics that influence the color of their eggshells. For example, some breeds lay rich brown eggs, others lay soft blue eggs, and certain breeds that carry both brown and blue genetics can produce stunning olive or green eggs.

Despite their different colors, all eggs are the same on the inside. Shell color does not affect taste, nutrition, or quality. The vibrant variety simply reflects the diversity of our flock!

We love that our hens create a natural rainbow in every carton — it’s one of the many joys of farm-fresh eggs.
